Seriously, Lord? THIS is what you want me to do with my life? I mean, I have skills, talents, and energy. Is this what I am supposed to be doing with my life? Really, is there nothing more?!

Do you ever wonder why God gave you talents or passion and then orchestrated a life for you where you are not able to use it.

Are you frustrated? Resentful? Do you ever think that maybe is God is keeping something from you or holding you back?!

Girl, you are not alone. If you are anything like me, there are times you struggle with feeling trapped in your circumstances and then feeling guilty for not embracing the life you have been given.

Episode Scripture

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9 English Standard Version

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 English Standard Version

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen

1 Peter 4:10-11 English Standard Version

Big Picture Take Away

Life is hard and you don’t always have to be happy about it! But it is a lot harder to be discontent when you are constantly thanking God for that He has provided.

You can be thankful in the midst of trials even if all you have to be thankful is Jesus. Because it is an undeserved gift from God. And even if God never answered another prayer or gave you another blessing, it would still be enough to be grateful.

Practical Application

To fight the feeling of discontent in our hearts we must:

  1. Confess it. God already knows what you are struggling with so be honest and tell Him why are you discontent.
  2. Be thankful. Say 5 things (no matter how small) that you can be grateful for at the moment.
  3. Point others to Jesus. Learn to use your gifts for God’s glory within your current circumstances.
